Ingredients: 
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
Instructions: 

Heat oven to 325°F. 

In large bowl, cream butter and then add brown sugar, butter, molasses and egg and beat on medium speed, or mix with spoon until well blended. 

Stir in remaining ingredients (except the sugar).

Refrigerate dough for at least three hours, then shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls. Dip tops of balls into granulated sugar. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet, sugared sides up, about 2 inches apart.

Bake 14 minutes or just until set and cookies appear dry. Immediately remove from baking sheet and cool.
